Legal Question in Business Law in Maryland
On-line Art Sales
I am an Artist residing in MD. I would like to sell my work through my website during an Art Show in DC for the duration of the show (5/29 -7/5/09). Do I have to apply for a MD or DC Business License and do I have to collect Sales Tax from MD or DC residents that purchase my work through the Internet? Would I also have to file for a Federal TIN and file taxes for the TIN?

Re: On-line Art Sales
Probably not, but you should check with the people running the art show as to your requirements. As for your tax #, if you trade as an individual you don't need a separate #--use your ssn--but if you form an LLC or incorporate then you would get a separate tax # for those entities.
