Legal Question in Business Law in Maryland

Can they do that?

I ordered an online course through Dell for my boyfriend, they put the course in my name. I called them and they made him restart the class and they put it in his name.. no problem... then it suddenly shows in my name again (had been registered in his name this time), I call them and they tell me that the can't put it back in his name due to the account being in my name. No where in the contract (that i have read) does it say that you can not purchuse a course for someone else. (parents put there kids through school). No they are giving me grief about refunding my money (no certification has been awarded). Can they do this? That is stealing my money. Is there anything i can do about it legally?

You should check to see what the cancellation policy was for the course. If that doesn't help you, ask to speak to a supervisor and explain the situation. Make it clear that their instructions were misleading and that you thought you could buy the course for someone else. I would think they would rectify the situation to keep a customer happy.
