Legal Question in Business Law in Maryland

Refund for Services not rendered

My husband and I booked a cabin in October that we do not wish to use. The campground considers this a ''holiday'' weekend (all weekends in October for Halloween) and will only give full refund if notified 30 days in advance. They want to issue a certificate good for one year to stay in their campground. While their policy is clear and provided in advance, is there any recourse at all. We called within 18 days not realizing that the weekend stay was considered ''holiday''. Can we still get the money vs. the credit?

Re: Refund for Services not rendered

If the particular weekend you booked was not one which people would ordinarily treat as a holiday, then they should have made that clear at the time you booked. The only traditional holiday weekend in October would be around Columbus Day. If you booked a different weekend and they didn't inform you at the time that that particular weekend was considered a holiday weekend, and the cancellation time period was therefore longer than it otherwise would have been, I think you have a legitimate complaint.
