Legal Question in Business Law in Maryland
Starting a Business
I recently started a home-based business offering marketing services. How do I become a real business, instead of a ''contractor?'' I want to be able to offer services as a business, and especially without using a 1099.

Re: Starting a Business
You need to file with SDAT (State Department of Assessments and Taxation). There are choices as to which type of entity you should form, depending on your circumstances. There are also IRS considerations. The considerations need to be discussed before a determination can be made. Call if I can be of assistance.
