Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Maryland

Magnet School Lottery Rejection

In my area we have Magnet Schools. They are schools which provide specialized curriculem for a number of students. Due to the number of applications a lottery is held. Upon recipt of a rejection notice based on too many applicants, you may appeal the rejection which I have. Now I have to write in the basis of my appeal. Is there history anywhere (I'm aware of white families suing the school system for reverse descrimination for them allowing a percentage of minorities setaside)that can help me with my appeal, I am a minority.

Re: Magnet School Lottery Rejection

Find out who the lawyer for your local school sytsem is - possibly a private lawyer. Then ask them if they can help you or if they know another attorney who does education law to help you. You may not have enough time, but any past appeals should be a matter of public record that you have a right to inspect. - Michael Worsham
