speedy trial right

Is there a limit on the amount of time the state has to bring a person to trial after they have been formally charged with a criminal offense such as assault? If so, what is this guideline? And where can I find it?

Check Maryland Rule of Criminal Procedure, Rule 4-271, Trial Date. I am not a criminal lawyer, but I believe it is 180 days. You should get legal counsel to represent you on this matter.
