Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Maryland
Whistleblower protection - private industry
I resigned from my MD based employer because they were operating under false pretenses. I reported them to the MD Insurance Commissioner's office and the Illinois Department of Insurance, both are slow to investigate. My former employer is now suing me for breach of confidentiality agreement and obtained a temporary restraining order against me. I am a single white female, 42 yrs old, nurse and mother of two children. The company is predominately male, Jewish and under 40 yrs of age. I do not have money to defend myself against deep pockets and was only trying to do the right thing. Where can I find someone to defend me pro bono?

Try the Government Accountability Project, www.whistleblower.org. They have lots of information, whistle blower laws, links, etc. Also look for a lawyer who does employment or contract law. Good luck. - Michael Worsham
