licensing a symbol library for an application
I have created a symbol library in a CAD application. The company's offices are based in Maryland. They are interested in licensing the library for a one-time payment, and are asking me to present a proposal. I have been told to ask for 5% of the retail value of the product x number of projected copies. But i'm still concerned about the length of the agreement, etc. Do i need to speak to a maryland attorney? I'm in NYC. How do i find a computer-specific attorney here?

A computer law/intellectual property attorney licensed in MD and NY should be able to protect your monetary and intellectual property rights as a NY resident entering into a commercial agreement with a MD business corporation. You will need the attorney to assist in negotiations and to prepare a licensing agreement that protects your financial/intellectual property rights. If I can be of any help to you, please contact me. I would use NY law since you have the choice and its your home jurisdiction.
You will likely need a licensing agreement. My firm does quite a bit of technology law. We have an office in NY.
