Legal Question in Construction Law in Maryland
placing lien on property?
Question; if the contactor doesn't pay us (subcontractor); how do you go about placing a lien on the property the work was done at (if you can in maryland). And it is worth it; ie if they owe $500 if it worth the time/effort? Can any all subcontractors place a lien (drywall/painter/landscaping/dumpster/etc...).
Thanks for the Help.

Re: placing lien on property?
In MD, there is really no way to do a mechanics lien for $500, as the process entails filing a circuit court suit and doing a preliminary hearing. In addition, there is the requirement that the improvements being done equal or exceed 15% of the value of the property (although individual subcontractors don't have to meet that, the whole job has to).
