Legal Question in Consumer Law in Maryland
Buy a car from a friend
I am in the process of buying a car from a friend, we entered a writing agreements of $7500.00 and to date I have paid $6000.00. In December I fell behind in my payments. As a result he came from Roanoke VA to my Maryland residence and picked the car up without informing me of his intention. I would like to know what legal rights I have. Am I entitled to the car, since being late I was only to be assessed a late fee, and there was never a mention of the car be repossessed for a late payment. Can I proceed with litigation to either recover the car or the all the money that I have invested to date.

Re: Buy a car from a friend
You would be well advised to arrange for a consultation on this matter with a Virginia attorney since the potential defendant lives in the Commonwealth and any action filed in court
to recover either your money or the vehicle would need to originate here in Virginia rather than in Maryland, your state of residence.
