Legal Question in Consumer Law in Maryland

Buying a salvages vehicle

My daughter recently purchased a car that she absolutely fell in love with, exactly the one that she was looking for. Well much to our stupidity, we didn't check out the VIN number prior to her giving him the check. I did check it out after and found it had been damaged or salvaged. My son that went with her asked him if it had been in an accident and he said no. Supposedly he has his own independent used car dealership in Waldorf Maryland. Is there any recourse after the fact?

Re: Buying a salvages vehicle

You say supposedly the seller has "his own

independent used car dealership", and, one would assume the appropriate business license to go with it. If so, the seller is certainly required to make full disclosure of the kind of information that you've described, and,if he refuses to make an appropriate settlement, you

should first file a complaint with the local consumer affairs agency in Waldorf.

If still no satisfactory resolution of the case is achieved, your next step should most likely be to file your case with small claims court in Charles County.
