Legal Question in Consumer Law in Maryland

I'm I still a co-owner of the car?

My boyfriend & I bought a car last year. I signed as a co-applicant because his credit wasn't so hot. The dealer couldn't get us the % rate he told us while signing the contract, so he asked us to come back and sign a new contract. My boyfriend did, but I couldn't. They kept the contract at the dealership because I was suppose to come in and sign it. I decided to not sign it after finding out that the dealership wasn't suppose to do that. All the sudden we received a new registration in the mail with only my boyfriends name and mine removed. The finance co. still has the old contract with the old interest rate, it never has been changed. My question is ''Am I still legally the co-owner of the car''? We have not contacted the dealer yet and don't plan on it, because they have given us nothing but trouble. If I'm nolonger co-owner of the car, then I shouldn't be on the financing part of it either.

This question has many unsaid elements. Are you asking in relation to trusts or estates, or in contract, or for liability and insurance purposes. Essentially, if you are not on the title then you are not an in persona owner of the vehicle however you may have a claim in ownership and if you have an unpaid contract amount due then you may be liable for payment.

It is hard to tell from your information, but it does not *appear* that you are the owner. However, being the owner is a separate issue from whether you are liable in contract to pay for the vehicle.
