Legal Question in Consumer Law in Maryland

Estimate Fraud

I paid $65 to a local TV repair service for an estimate on repairing my big screen TV. The agreement was I pay $65 deposit for an estimate and that amount comes off of the repair bill. It's been six months and all I've gotten is run arounds with no estimate. Is there any recourse on getting my money back?

Re: Estimate Fraud

Tell the repairman that they have breached on the contract for an estimate. Tell them that they

had a reasonable period for performance and that they did not tender such within this period. Tell them that you demand a $65 refund or you will report them

to the BBB or take other action. Do not make threats that you do not intend to pursue. Lastly, if you charged the amount then seek to resolve this with your credit card company.

Hope this helps.
