Legal Question in Consumer Law in Maryland
An Oral Surgeon systematically inflates his co-pay estimates at time of service then after being paid by the insurance company, refuses to refund any money to the patients. His A/R sheet is 22 single spaced pages of negative balances (what he owes the patient) but he just doesn't do it until the patient finally stops asking. The DOJ investigated but said unfortunately the amount wasn't large enough for them to persue with the number of agents they have .... it is a large number to me ...

Have you complained to the insurance company?
If the surgeon states that he will repay you upon payment by the insurance company, you may be able to sue him for the refund.
