Legal Question in Consumer Law in Maryland
I paid for $799 for a lifetime membership of Cambridge Who's Who not knowing it's a scam. They mailed me a certificate and a receipt that had a statement "as a reminder, a final payment of $199 will be billed in 30 days", although I never was told or authorized this payment at the first time.
My credit card was charged 30 days later.
Do they have a right to charge my credit card just to put a statement on a piece of paper/receipt?
Also, what they are selling is obviously overpriced. They exaggerated on the phone how precious this membership was, although my $1,000 + stupidity have only traded with a piece of worthless certificate and an expensive useless social networking. This is wrong?
Thank you very much

There is no legal question here. This company offered and sold you a product. You knew what the product was when you purchased it. They billed you 80% up front and then gave you 30 days notice about the remaining 20% that would be billed. You did nothing during that 30 days to return the product or cancel the transaction. Only now, after you have been billed the entire amount, and it's over 30 days after you received the product, are you having second thoughts. The fact that you think the product is overpriced does not give you a legal cause of action. Sorry, but it sounds like you have buyer's remorse, not a legal issue.
Best of luck.******The above is for informational purposes only and does not create an attorney-client privilege.*******
