Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Maryland

Affidavit judgment

I just received notification that an affidavit judgment was entered against me. It stated that I have 30 days to file a motion to vacate judgement. The debt was an installment contract that was charged off in April of 1999. I know that this debt is well beyond the SOL, but is it too late because the judgment has been entered? or can I file a motion to vacate to judgment and use beyond the SOL as my defense?

Re: Affidavit judgment

Yes, you can move to vacate and argue the SOL as a defense, but you also will need to show good cause why you defaulted, such as not being served with process, or having been in the hospital or out of the country.
