Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Maryland

Gym memebrship cancellation criteria

Are there any provisions in Maryland law that allows for a person to cancel their gym membership if they move out of state? There are no cancellation clauses in the 1 year contract I signed and the owner said she would charge me an additional $25 for each month I have been a member so it would be like a monthly membership. The additional fee is not included in the original contract.

There is no provision in MD law that I am aware of that allows you to cancel your gym contract if you move out of state. The terms of your contract should govern how much you get charged. Is it going to cost you more to pay the $25 additional per month for a monthly membership or pay the monthly fee until the end of the year contract? Whichever of these is your cheapest option would make the most sense to do.
