Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Maryland

My husband dieda year and a half ago with a will.......leaving me with two homes. One I have lived in many years.......the other has been lived in by our daughters family. They have fallen on hard times and cannot totally make the morgtage payments, I have been helping with some of my savings. Because I don't live there the bank will not refinance, if I have to let the house go will it affect my credit? My name is NOT on the mortgage loan. I just inhertited this headache.

I am sorry to hear of your loss. To fully answer your question, an attorney would need to look at the title to the properties and see what happened in the estate proceedings. Did you open an estate? Typically if a loan is not in your name any adverse action should not affect you personally. However, if you are the personal representative of the estate you may have certain obligations to the creditors...
