Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Maryland

Can husband be liable for my debts before our marriage?

During a previous marraige, i had defaulted on 2 particular accounts. One being a car loan, and the other was a gym contract. I am remarried and I am a home maker with no income. I have been receiving calls from collection agency who states they can go after my husband for the debt. If we share a bank account, his name being the primary account holder, mine only secondary, is it legal for any credit company to freeze our account or garnish his wages for a debt of mine before our marriage? And would this apply to any debt i may have defaulted on or are there exceptions?

To garnish an account, first they need to have a court judgment. Further, in MD, joint accounts between husband and wife are not subject to garnishment for debts of just one of the spouses.
