Indivdual being sued in joint contract matter

I signed an agreement for services with three other individuals approximately

5 years ago. Long since then, the other 2 parties had discontinued supporting this debt leaving me "holding the bag". I am now being sued for the full amount of the obligation.Is this legal?If I am the only one responsible, how does this affect the credit of the other 2or am I the only one whose credit will be affected by this? I'm not sure how I was singled out for the burden.

Please help, we go to trial next week. Also, could I ask to be held responsible for 1/3 of the original debt?

Chances are, all 4 of you are "jointly and severally" liable on the debt, which means they can sue any or all of you. You are each liable to the creditor for the whole thing, but you can sue each other for contribution. As to credit, it just depends what was reported. You should get a lawyer to do the trial -- don't try to do it yourself.
