Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Maryland

i'm mixed up in a debt created by my sister which is now years old, somehow the company has my name and address. now they went to court without me and the judgement rules me as the responsible party. can they do that, and what would be some options for me to get outta this???

Hire an attorney IMMEDIATELY who can help explain your options, how long it will take to turn around this mess, and how much money it will cost you in lawyer fees. That's your best option. If you do nothing and ignore what's going on, the court can garnish your wages, take away your driver's license, and basically make your life miserable. It's time to act now by hiring a lawyer.
