What steps must be followed to ensure that process is served in Maryland? What constitutes acceptance of the court documents by ther person being served? Must a signature be obtained? Can the documents be delivered to someone other than the defandent in the case?

Re: Process Service
The methods of serving process are set forth in the Md. Rules. It depends who you want to serve. Individuals (not under a disability, such as minors and incompetents) can be served personally, by certified mail, return receipt, restricted delivery, or by serving an adult residing at the same residence as the defendant. There are different rules for corporations and other types of defendants, and other options in the event of difficult service. Your lawyer should know how to get the papers served.
