Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Maryland

Satisfaction of judgment

A monetary judgment was filed against me in the State of Maryland in Feb 2006. I satisfied the judgment in full on March 10, 2006. It has been three years and the attorney has not filed satisfaction of judgment. I have contacted his office on numerous occassions and he refuses to return my calls or file the satisfaction.

What is my legal recourse? I am trying to buy a house and can't without proof of satisfaction.

Re: Satisfaction of judgment

You can file a motion with the court (if in circuit court the rule is 2-626)(if in district court the rule is 3-626) and ask the court to declare the judgment as satisfied. Make sure to send a copy of the motion you file with the court to the attorney by certified mail. Also send a copy of the motion to the creditor by certified mail.
