Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Maryland

telephone harassment

Ongoing telephone calls for someone else from the same company on my personal mail box at work after i'd repeatly told them that this person was no longer here. i even set my voice mail up to stipulate, please do not leave messages for anyone else and ask that this number be removed from there call list. to no avail. do i have any recourse? i'd even archived these messages in hope that someone can here that this is personal harassment for me.

Re: telephone harassment

You could strengthen your message a bit by stating that your employer does not allow you to receive calls at work. Also, send your request in writing, by cerified mail return receipt requested. Document every call carefully in case you have to take legal action. You can also tell the MD attorney general's office about the company.

Re: telephone harassment

You have a potential claim against the company under the Maryland Consumer Debt Collection Act. You should obtain the full name of the company and the name of the individual when you receive the next phone call. Document the calls including time, date and telephone number and what was said to you.
