Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Maryland

Apparently I have a very common name,because what is happening is i keep getting collection notices in the mail for companies i have never delt with,and when I contacted the collection agency they say they cant help me unless I give them my ss#.Today someone showed up at my house to serve papers to someone with the same name but different middle name,my question is how the hell did they get my address and how can I stop this.Thank you for your time.Mr. Williams

They run your name through a system, generate form letters and send them out to any potential person that fits the name. For the first part of you issue I would suggest double checking your credit report and make sure that the collections are not showing up on your credit report.
