Appeal from the District court
On an appeal from the District Court to the Circuit Court, you get another trial, from the begining. If you are found guilty, the circuit court judge may impose any sentence up to the the limit of the law, which could be more than the district court. However, the judge may not impose a greater senctence just because you appealed from the district court.
