Legal Question in Criminal Law in Maryland
Assault on police officer
I was charged with assaulting a police officer w/my car door. They were called by a woman I have been seeing. I came over because my car got keyed and was angry and wanted answers because earlier in the day I asked her did she do it and sais yes. I was upset and went to her house to get some answers, no threats. When I got there she would not let me in.I sat in the driveway w/ the music up. She called the police. When they arrived I was told to leave. And when I objected to this, they got smart and I being already upset had words with them. One thing lead to the other, the 2 police came up to my car door and said they were going to arrest me if I did not leave. I then, knowing that I heard 1 of them say get out of the car opened the car door. immediately I was pulled from my car, beaten and they were screaming that I was resisting and continued beating. No way was I trying to hit the officer w/the door but they charged me w/2nd degree assault on a police officer. Mean time I had to go to the hospital to get my chin stitched up and have multiple bruises on my face. Does anyone have a recommendation on how I should proceed?
