Legal Question in Criminal Law in Maryland
can an automotive shop be sued for the value of a car if it is vandalized on the shop property after hours when the vandalism is clearly personal to the owner of the vehicle?

It doesn't really matter if the vandalism is "clearly personal" to the owner or not (you don't state what that actually means). The auto shop will have a really tough time successfully arguing that it shouldn't be liable for a car that was vandalized while in its possession. Hire an attorney to negotiate a settlement with the car owner.
