Legal Question in Criminal Law in Maryland

burglary 1st degree. 3rd degree. 4th degree

What does it mean when charge desprciption initially was burglary frist dgree and burglary third degree... but then information was ammended to burglary fourth degree??what does all that mean?

the ammendment was made 2 days prior to my felonly dismissal date..appreciate your help thank you

It sounds like the prosecutor's office no longer wanted to charge you with felony burglary, but amended it to a misdemeanor so that these cases can be heard in district court.

They could have also dismissed everything and re-charged you, but it is easier this way, and they are allowed to make this amendment as long as it gives you enough time to prepare for your case. Certainly before the felony dismissal date would be considered reasonable.
