Legal Question in Criminal Law in Maryland
buying stolen goods
some clients come into my shop and get a tattoo one of the clients finds out that i play bass, wants to know if i want to trade two basses for artwork and money i tell him i have to see the basses first he comes back with his brother i specifically ask him if they are stolen both say owned them for years all the employees were there and heard them (4 people)we discuss price i buy them. two monthes later the boys father comes in and says that one of the basses is his and he wants it back and he is not going to pay me the money i payed and if i dont give him it he is going to call the police on me i have been working at this shop for 7 years i did not steal this bass nor would i have bought this guitar if i had known should i call the police first i dont know what my rights are it could be a scam please help

It sounds like they have a scam. You did not mention whether the son was a minor. You can bring an action for recovery of the money that was taken from you. Contact an attorney.
