Car theft.
If a 17 year old has been found delinquent, the State can keep him until he is 21. If he just stole the car, they have 60 days to get it to the State's Attorney for charging as a delinquent.

Re: Car theft.
Conviction on charges of theft of an automobile is punishable by jail of 5 years and/or a fine of $5,000. However, the charging document can bring a greater penalty of 15 years and/or $25,000 fine. Other penalties may apply. Contact an attorney for representation as time limitations apply for defense.
