Legal Question in Criminal Law in Maryland

Cashing of stolen check

I made a huge error in judgement & cashed 2 stolen checks from my old employer last summer.(2 checks totalling around $300) The police came & questioned me & I denied any involvement... (that was in Sept.) after that, I went to my employer (still denying any involvement), turned in my keys & left my job on my own accord. -- yesterday, the cop came by when I was @ work & told my boyfriend (not in so many words) they know I did it & to call the officer because he has a resolution. My concern is 1: going to jail (of course) & 2: I have an old warrant in Or. for a probation violation on a DUI charge in '01. I know I should seek councel, I just dont really have the money-- any advise? what sort of ''resolution'' could the officer have for me? and whats the chance they know about my warrent in Or. & they're going to detain me on that?

I have a job & I dont want to ruin that by going to jail. I know my old employer said they wouldnt press charges on my if found it was in fact me that did it... I want to pay the money back, plus any other fines. I'm just scared to even talk to the police...

Cashing of stolen check

The police office does not have the authority to "resolve" the case for you, only the State's Attorney has that authority. The police are looking for you to admitt the crime so they can use it against you in Court. Seek the advice of a lawyer. Do not discuss your case with any one else prior to talking to a lawyer.
