i was charged with 2nd degree assault and before the date it was nolle prosequi what does that mean for me

It means the State's Attorney dismissed that charge. If that is your only count, your case is done. If there were more counts, you may still have to appear in Court. You are also possibly entitled to an expungement, if you meet certain qualifications.
