Legal Question in Criminal Law in Maryland
my court is on 2 days i really need help
Hello everyone, i really need help on my problem i have, i had a warrant on my for my arrest for not appearing on court and paying a ticked i had for a long time, the thing is that i never knew i had that court i did not received any notification, nor i knew there was a warrant for my arrest, well they arrested me and the judged in jail say i had commited a crime, oh i didn't mentioned that it was cause i was driving one time and a cop stopped me and found out that my lincese was suspended for the same ticked i did not know that till there, well the thing is that i do not have mnoey to pay a layer nor they want to provide me with one, he say i would need a lawyer casue i might get $1,000 or jail or both, i do not know what to do this is my fist time this had happened i had never had any problem of this type or others i'm scared to go to jail cause is not fair i will start a job soon i do not want to loose it cause of this, please help.

Tell the judge that you cannot afford an attorney and that you would like to be represented. Arrangements will be made for a public defender to be your lawyer at no cost, or at a fee adjusted cost. It is your Constitutional right to be represented by an attorney at any criminal hearing. Address the judge politely and request this.
