Legal Question in Criminal Law in Maryland
is it a crime to knowingly accept a forged check
someone stole one of my checks and signed my name. the check was made out to a cashed by someone who knew that the check was forged. Is this a crime? What code of criminal law? What possible penalties? Thank you.

Knowing possession of recently stolen property is theft. In Maryland, if the value is over $500, it is subject to imprisonment not exceeding 15 years or a fine not exceeding $25,000 or both. You should contact the police or the State's Attorney in the county from which it was stolen.
