You need to find out if the state can prove elements of the charges based on what the cops say in the statement of charges, and then if they have the evidence to prove to a jury beyond a reasonable doubt what they say happened. Then you need to determine if it would be better to go to trial or take some kind of deal, and then begin negotiating with the prosecutor. Or you could get an attorney who could do all this for you.

First thing, do not discuss the case with the police. Statements you make, which you think will help you, could be turned around and used against you. Next, talk with a knowledgeable criminal lawyer, like myself, who can help you begin preparing a defense. Statements you make about the case, even to non police, can be used against you, so don't do it.
