Legal Question in Criminal Law in Maryland

How to exsponge a non-conviction.......

I recently found out through a potential employer, that i had a charge on my criminal background check. I was not aware of this at all. A fight between me and my sister four years ago had her arrested and charged with assault, due to assaulting me. She later pressed charges on me, so that i would be forced to drop charges on her. However, i went ahead and dropped charges, and when it was my time to go to court she dropped charges on me as well. The only thing i remember saying is that i had two options, one that i would have to go to anger management to get this charge off my record right away or i would have to wait two years get it dropped off, that was probationary period and i could not get into trouble. However, recently i found out it was on my record and it states: assault 2nd degree, with failure to comply. I have no idea what that means and what step i can do to get that off my record. I was never arrested nor convicted. Also, does this stop my future employment.

If you did not go to Court this is a mistake and the Court can correct a mistake at any time. Petitition the Court to have the mistake corrected. If you are mistaken and you actually went to Court contact an attorney. You may be eligible to have the matter expunged if you received Probation Before Judgment. If you received an actual conviction a pardon may be your only option.
