Legal Question in Criminal Law in Maryland

Extradition laws

Person charged with a non violent felony crime, left state of Maryland before court date. Taken into custody in State of Florida, now awaiting extradiction back to Maryland. Is there a specific time limit Maryland has to transport them back before Florida has to release them?

Re: Extradition laws

Was a preliminary hearing held or not? This has an effect upon this matter.

I am not certain of the exact number of days where there was no preliminary hearing but the extradition should be relatively expedient. Where there was a preliminary hearing and release on own recognizance (or bail) and leaving the state, the period of extradition can be longer.

It appears you require legal assistance in Maryland, contact me when you are in the state.
