Legal Question in Criminal Law in Maryland
Fugitive warrant
My husband was arrested in MD on 1/12/07 driving with a suspended license. A fugitive warrant for PA came up. His bail was paid on 1/17/07. I was told by the jail that PA had 72 hours to pick him up or they would let him go. It is 1/22/07 and now no one knows why he is still there. Is this the law.

Re: Fugitive warrant
72 hours is the law regarding the time alloted the other jurisdiction(Pa. in this case) to come and retrieve the fugitive. If they have failed to do so
by now, the detaining jurisdiction(Maryland) may be holding him on other charges(or somebody has simply screwed up).
In any event, his Maryland attorney should be making high decibel noises
demanding his or her client's release from Maryland custody.
