Legal Question in Criminal Law in Maryland

Grand Larceny

My friend is charged with 2 cts Grand Larceny, he was interviewed by the co. loss prevention for 2 hrs @ work & was being recorded at that time, he reported seeing one employee doing something suspicious. My friend admitted to using the company cell phone after work & gave written statement as well, but in the warrant it states that he admitted his involvement in both crimes, can his lawyer request these statement and recordings to help defend his client and is the recording legal and can be used against my friend in court. he has no prior criminal record.

Re: Grand Larceny

Yes, the State is required to share the recordings and statements with the defense. If your friend knew he was being recorded and/or consented, the recording would most likely be admissible.
