Legal Question in Criminal Law in Maryland
identity theft
i applied for a job that did a background check, i was denied employment due to a criminal history. I have never been in trouble with the law. Apparently one of my sisters used my name when arrested on a drug offense. She is currently in jail. When she went to booking they fingerprinter her and realized she was not who she said she was. My name was never taken out of their system though and now those charges are on her record and my record. I would not have a record was it not for that. What do I do to correct this? I will never get a job with that on there! Shouldn't someone in the system be liable for that error since they knew her identity once she was booked?
