Informant
If a person is considering approaching a law enforcement agency to become an informant should they consult an attorney for advise on any legal jepardy they may encounter?

Yes, the person should. The person may have some criminal exposure and should not be in the position of confessing to some crime in order to give information to a law enforcement agency without the advice of an attorney. Even if the law enforcement agency itself first approaches someone to ask him/her for information, the person should consult an attorney to negotiate with the law enforcement agency and to make sure the agency abides by its agreement with the person.
