Legal Question in Criminal Law in Maryland

Initial Appearance

My friends Initial appearance was scheduled for tomorrow morning at 9:00am. Just today we found out that it has been canceled. He was supposed to appear in circuit court. What could be the reasons his court date was canceled? Would one of the reasons be the state needs more time to get evidence?

It depends on what you mean by initial appearance. If he got a lawyer it couldve been waived, but there are also many other reasons. Please contact me with more details.
