Legal Question in Criminal Law in Maryland

How long can a ''ongoing investigation'' take

My exfriend pointed the finger at me because of his nature of not taking the blame for stuff. He was investigated and was found guilty and served 2 years. I on the other hand was investigated and was never given the all clear yet. I know i have dont nothing wrong and was innocent but they never gave me an all clear.

Re: How long can a ''ongoing investigation'' take

It depends on what the potential offense is. In general, there are statutes of limitations for some criminal acts. Once the limitations period has expired, you cannot be prosecuted for that offense.
