Legal Question in Criminal Law in Maryland

neighbor dispute escalating, please help

I am having a problem with my neighbor who has threatened to let a dog out on my daughters friends at her birthday party and also threatened to hurt my daughter. As advised by my neighbor who is a Sherriff I called the homeowners association and her landlord to let them know what happened because I really did not want to get the police involved. Come to find out she was not supposed to have a dog and now she has called my homeowner and told her that my house was destroyed inside and the house was damaged. My homeowner then called me to come see the house and found that none of this was true. There is more to this story but I am trying to keep it short. What should I do to make sure this comes to an end? If you have the time I would like to share the whole story and find out what I need to do because there is alot more.

Re: neighbor dispute escalating, please help

Depending on the nature of the threats, it may make sense for you to file a petition for a peace order on your daughter's behalf. You would need to prove by clear and convincing evidence that the neighbor's actions placed your daughter in fear of imminent harm. You can contact the District Court Commissioner in your county for additional details. You may also want to file a police report to have the incident on record.
