Legal Question in Criminal Law in Maryland
Posession of marijuana
My friend was driving me in his car to a local liquor store to buy some beer. My friends car was searched and a small bag of marijuana was found in the center console. I was unaware that my friend had marijuana in his posession, but I was still charged with posession of marijuana.
What should I do? I am required to attend a preliminary drug hearing at the District Courts. I have no previous criminal record or arrests.

The law is if you knew, or should have known, there were drugs in the car, you can be found guilty of possession. Since a criminal conviction can have far reaching ramifications, you should consult with a criminal attorney.
