Legal Question in Criminal Law in Maryland

seond degree assault

Found guilty of second degree assault for kicking someone (causing no injury requiring medical attention). Sentencing in a week. I don't want to get a record because it will eliminate me from the employment hiring process that I am currently undergoing. I also would prefer not to go through a lengthy appeal. Is there some type of sentencing with exceptions that I can ask the Judge about so I do not receive a record? I heard legal analysts on tv discussing a term pertaining to this, but can't remember the term.

Re: seond degree assault

The term is probation before judgment and it does not apply to your case since you have already been judged guilty. Expungement is not likely to apply. Your sentence may or may not affect your employment situation. Consult with an attorney.
