Legal Question in Criminal Law in Maryland
Sister in law let me put my phone in her name now claiming ID theft
My sister in law allowed me to place my home phone in her name and also a walmart credit card so I could purchase school clothing for my daughter. I had been paying her monthly on these things until last year when I became ill. She got mad that payments stopped and to get the items off of her credit report she told them that she never authorized the bills to be in her name so now I have state charges for this. I have never been in trouble before in 30 years so I am freaking out. I have two children to take care of and many health problems now. Now the state is charging me with 3 counts of theft scheme because of this. The walmart card has been totally paid off, her brother and I paid the payments to her for that so there is only a 500.00 phone bill left which she should be taking me to court for not claiming ID theft.

Since these are criminal charges, you should not go to court without a lawyer. If you cannot afford a lawyer, get a public defender. A good lawyer can defeat these charges, as consent to use the cards is a defense, if presented correctly.
