Re: What does Stay of Judgement Mean?
A stay of judgment in Maryland occurs after a guilty finding and basically removes the conviction from the Defendant's record. Today, this is commonly called "Probation before judgment," and is typically given for first time offenders for this kind of CDS case. It is not a conviction for any purpose under the law.
