Legal Question in Criminal Law in Maryland
subpoena as a witness for the state
My son was recently incarcerated for allegedly assaulting a police officer. I witnessed the incident and it is not true. I recently received a subpoena in the mail to be a witness for the state. I do not understand why the state is calling me to be a witness against my son. Do I have to be a witness for the state.

Re: subpoena as a witness for the state
You will have to come to court if you are under subpoena, but when you get there, you can tell your own story the way you saw it. Also, you should make sure you get a good lawyer for your son.
